Framingham History Center Announces New Executive Director

The Board of the Framingham History Center is pleased to announce that it has appointed Anna E. Tucker to be its next Executive Director.  Anna will begin work on May 23, succeeding Annie Murphy who is retiring after 17 years of leading the organization.

Christine Tibor, President of the FHC Board of Directors notes, “Annie Murphy’s incredible dedication and hard work over the past 17 years ensures that the Framingham History Center is strongly positioned for the years ahead. We are excited to welcome Anna Tucker as the FHC’s new Executive Director and we are confident that she will continue to move the FHC forward as an important part of the Framingham community.”

“The Framingham History Center is a place of extraordinary growth thanks to a talented, dedicated staff and board; a diverse and supportive local community; and the leadership and vision of Annie Murphy over the past seventeen years,” said Anna. “I look forward to becoming a part of the Framingham community and supporting this vibrant city’s growth through the FHC.”

Anna is currently the founding Curator and lead project coordinator for the establishment of the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience. A $5.5 million project in a renovated historic building in New Orleans, it was the winner of the 2021-2022 Museum Exhibition of the Year Award from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

Anna brings considerable experience to the job having led successful donor and development initiatives, managing non-profit budgets, and engaging new and often marginalized audiences through the establishment of three new museums while strengthening existing partnerships.

Having grown up in New England, some of Anna’s earliest memories include visits to local historic sites that cultivated a passion for history and public engagement. This set her on a path to pursue the field of public history earning a B.A. and M.A. in History.

We look forward to working with Anna and welcoming her to Framingham.
