WELCOME to Dennison Manufacturing Co.
Book Launch Reception
Sunday, October 18, 2 pm
Historic Village Hall,* 2 Oak Street, Framingham
We wish we had this stunning new publication for the opening of our Dennison exhibition last December. It’s been worth the wait! The Dennison Mfg. Company comes to life with over 250 illustrations and a very approachable evolution of the company’s five founding products – boxes, tags, labels, crepe paper and sealing wax. Author Pat Lavin, summarizes a remarkable history, from the founding of the company in 1844 to the Town of Framingham’s 1952 tribute to Henry S. Dennison, with a sense of wonder and excitement over her discoveries while working on the company archives. Lavin, a Framingham History Center (FHC) volunteer, says she feels “honored” to have been able to work on this project.
While there have been many case studies and company histories written about Dennison, this is the first publication to bring this story into the realm of public history. Former FHC Museum Assistant, Laura Stagliola, has contributed a stunning selection of Dennison illustrations to accompany Lavin’s narrative.
The authors will be on hand to talk about the book, the history and, as always, to learn more from you our audience.
