Join the Framingham History Center for free family activities and programming to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the Armistice that ended the First World War on Nov. 11, 1918.
11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. – Children’s stories and crafts
Children will enjoy hearing stories of animals created during the WWI era (Winnie the Pooh and Sergeant Stubby the dog), followed by special crafts designed for all ages.
1:00 p.m. – Massachusetts Medal of Liberty Presentations
Join us and newly elected State Representative Maria Robinson, along Framingham Veterans Services, in honoring the memory of three Framingham men who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I.
2:00-2:45 p.m. – Ray Brooks – Framingham’s Flying Ace
Historian Kevin Swope will present the larger than life story of this local pilot. Brooks’ bravery and skill earned him and his biplane a place of honor at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. – An American Town in WWI
An exhibition featuring seven local men and women whose stories speak to the larger forces of the “war to end all wars…” In addition, National Guard vehicles will be on display for close up inspection.
