2020 Boston Marathon – Team Framingham History Center

Runner Profile: Joe Kynoch

-Have you run the Boston Marathon before (or any marathon)?
I completed the Boston Marathon 2 times before this, in 2017 and 2018.
I was a member of Team Framingham in 2014, the first year of the lottery.  I was very sick just before the race, but decide to try it.  I made it to mile 6 before dropping out.  It was quite discouraging but I decided not to waste all the training I put in over the winter, so I ran the Providence Marathon 3 weeks later.

-What is your favorite route in Framingham for a run?
The route I run most often is from my house on Cider Mill to Water St, to Brook, to Frost, to Edgell, to Water and back to Cider Mill — 3.75 mi.  I like to run out to Grove then Edmunds to Nixon Parmenter, Wayside Inn Rd, to Grove and Winch — 7 to 8 miles

-Why are you running for the Framingham History Center?
I am running for the FHC because I am a fan of local history, I love old houses, stone walls and old mill buildings.  I have a small business which I have named after one of the earliest plantations/farms in the Nobscot area, John Stone – Stone’s End.

-Best training tip?
Run more.  Work on the long runs.  I am too old to think about much more than just finishing, so I work on extending the miles I can run.

-Best playlist for a run?
I don’t run with a sound-track.    I like to hear what is going on around me and just have some alone time.

-What is your favorite Framingham fact?
I love Margaret Knight – one of the first women to get a patent in the US.
