Village Hall on the Common, 2 Oak Street
Featuring K. Healan Gaston, Lecturer in American Religious History and Ethics, Harvard Divinity School
After nearly two years of extensive restoration, the Sarah and Peter Clayes House is now home to the Jewett/Gaston family. Since moving into the house last summer, Healan Gaston has been intrigued by a host of unanswered questions relating to the history of the house. As an author and lecturer at the Harvard Divinity School, she is no stranger to historical research and has been exploring several “history mysteries” involving Salem End and Boston’s Underground Railroad. In particular, she will discuss whether any portion of the Clayes house dates to the first period (1625-1725); the history of Framingham’s involvement in the Underground Railroad; and some of the exciting public history projects currently underway in her Harvard Divinity School course “Witch Hunts: Persecution in Public History and Ethics.”
After a brief annual meeting and the presentation of the 2020 Volunteer of the Year Award, Healan will share her findings thus far and raise some questions that she hopes the group will be able to help her answer.
This meeting is for members and donors only. If you know of others who are not members and would like to attend, they can join the FHC here.
