Participatory Archiving Listening Session

Mass Memories, the participatory archiving program at UMass Boston, is piloting a training program for librarians, archivists, and public historians across Massachusetts with an interest in digitization and community-engaged archiving, providing guidance and support as institutions develop plans for their own participatory archiving projects.

UMass Boston staff are traveling to Framingham on August 13 to host a listening session to gather information that will inform their training program.

We want to hear from you—what issues are you facing as you do digitization and digital preservation work? What questions do you have about getting community members involved in preserving their own histories? What resources do you need to take on these types of projects with confidence?
Whether you are an experienced archivist or you’re new to the world of participatory archiving, you’re invited to join us for a conversation about the state of the field and your needs for training and support.
