1940s-style Swing Dance
Imagine it’s a Friday night in 1949 in Framingham, MA…
Workers are streaming home from the General Motors plant or the Dennison Manufacturing facilities to shower and get ready to celebrate the weekend. In this time right after WWII, Framingham is expanding exponentially and the sound of big band music can be heard drifting from its supper clubs out on Rt. 9.
Now you can step back in time to hear the sounds of big band music during the Framingham History Center’s 1940s Swing Dance on Friday, September 20th!
Dance on the Village Hall on the Common’s historic wood floors to the live music of the 18-piece ensemble, Dan Gabel and the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra (1940s style dress is encouraged but not required!).
If you have never danced swing before or would like to polish your skills before joining the dance floor, we will host a swing dance lesson at 7:00 p.m. Food and drink concessions will also be available onsite (including a 1940s-themed mocktail!).
