Historic Village Hall*
2 Oak Street, Framingham, MA
Featuring: A film of the Veteran Motor Club of America 1939 & 1940 Meets at Raceland narrated by Ken Lemoine, Boston Cup Co-Founder
In 1939 & 1940, John Macomber’s Raceland was the site of the Veteran Motor Club of America’s antique car meet. A recently discovered film of these meets reveals not only what looks like an agility course for antique cars and their drivers, but also the gorgeous ½ mile racetrack on Salem End Road as a backdrop. If you’ve ever wondered what Raceland looked like, come and see this highly entertaining film. Ken Lemoine, the Boston Cup Classic Car show organizer, will guide us through the silent film and provide a brief history of auto manufacturing in Framingham. There is a reason this meet was at Raceland – Framingham was the center of auto manufacturing in New England between 1916-1989. From the Bela Body Corporation (1916) to the R.H. Long Company (1918) to General Motors, Framingham was producing the majority of automobiles in the region.
Tickets: Members/$5, Non-members/$10. Tickets available at the door. Questions? Call 508-626-9091
