Location & Buildings

The Framingham History Center is located in three historic buildings around the Framingham Center Common: the Edgell Memorial Library, Village Hall, and the Old Academy. The preservation of these irreplaceable buildings is central to our work and to the cultural life of Framingham.

Edgell Memorial Library

Visit our newest exhibition, “Framingham’s Collective Journeys”! Edgell Memorial Library is also the office of the Executive Director and Office Manager.

Exhibit Hours:
Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 AM – 4 PM (walk-ins welcome!)

We will be closed Tues., Dec. 24 – Wed., Dec. 25 and Wed., Jan. 1 for the holidays; otherwise, we are open during our normal hours. Happy Holidays!

Accessibility & Parking

The Village Hall on the Common is handicap accessible with an elevator as of May 2019. The Old Academy is not handicap accessible. The Edgell Memorial Library has ramp access at the Library Street entrance with handicap parking available. Parking for the Old Academy may be accessed off of Grove Street behind the Jonathan Maynard Building.


Directions to all buildings:

From Mass Pike (I-90) Eastbound take exit 111 onto Route 9 toward Framingham.  Bear right after tolls onto Rte 9 East.  In 2.2 miles take slight right onto ramp toward Edgell Rd.  Take left at light onto Edgell Rd and in .1 miles take left onto Oak St.

From the Mass Pike Westbound take exit 117.  After the tolls bear right onto MA-30 toward Framingham.  After 3 lights Rte 30 merges with Rte. 9 westbound.  Continue through light by Whole Foods (on right) and in 1/4 mile bear right onto ramp with signs for Framingham State University and Rte. 30.  At the light take a right onto Edgell Rd., and your first left is Oak St.

For Edgell Memorial Library – 3 Oak Street:
Take the next left onto Oak St, a one-way road. The first building on the left is the Edgell Memorial Library.

For Village Hall on the Common – 2 Oak Street:
Just beyond Oak Street, watch for the entrance to the Village Hall parking lot on the left, just ahead of the Centre Common.

For The Academy – 16 Vernon Street:
Take the next left onto Oak St, a one-way road.  At the end of Oak St, turn right onto Vernon St.  The Academy is approximately 1 / 4 mile on the left,  on the corner of Grove St.
