Education Manager

(Part-Time, Bilingual in English and Spanish or Portuguese)

The Framingham History Center, a vibrant hub for local history and culture, is excited to announce an opening for a part-time Education Manager. This position is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and passionate individual to play a pivotal role at the Framingham History Center as we invest in our deep commitment to community engagement and outreach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educational Programming Leadership: Oversee the comprehensive Third Grade Program with plans for expansion to other grade levels, ensuring programs are engaging, educational, and accessible.

  • Curriculum Development: Spearhead in-school project development, including the creation of innovative lesson plans, docent training programs, and the traveling trunks initiative, to bring local history alive within schools at the elementary, middle school, and high school levels.

  • Onsite Tour Development: Create engaging tours for onsite visitors to explore temporary and permanent exhibitions at the Framingham History Center, emphasizing participatory and multisensory experiences.

  • Community Engagement and Outreach: Play a crucial role in enhancing the Center’s engagement with diverse community groups through new educational programs and partnerships, promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

  • Cummings Grant Management: Lead the oversight and development of projects under the Cummings Grant, including the Framingham Trailblazers, Mornings at the Museum, and our ESL (English as a Second Language) programs, aligning them with our mission and community needs.

  • Volunteer and Staff Training: Develop and deliver training programs for docents and volunteers, ensuring they are well equipped to support the Center’s educational goals.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual Proficiency: Must be bilingual in English and Spanish or Portuguese to engage with our diverse community.

  • Education Experience: Strongly preferred, with demonstrated experience in creating engaging and educational content for various age groups.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a wide range of audiences.

  • Organizational Abilities: Self-directed planning and project management skills, with a track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Passion for Education and History: A genuine interest in education, local history, and community engagement.

Salary, Hours, & Benefits

Part-time, 20 hours/week; $23-25/hour, commensurate with experience.

Preference for a Tuesday – Thursday schedule, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., but this arrangement is flexible. Some nights and weekends for special programming may apply.
