Description |
RUSTIC BRIDGE, SIMPSON'S DRIVE
Simpson's Pond, also known as "the Barney," (slang for a noisy quarrel) was on the north side of Water Street. The bridges and walks were put in by Michael Simpson, proprietor of the Saxonville Mills, for the pleasure of his workers and their families. In the 1940s, the Pond was filled in and developed as the Pinefield Shopping Center. |
