Description
CATHOLIC CHURCH The mounted print shows a church wih a small steeple on a hill. St. George's Church, a long wooden structure on School Streetin 1880, was replaced by the modern brick structure in the 1960s after the original building was condemned. The rectory seen at the right of the 1980 view was built just a few years after the 1880 view was taken. Organized for Irish immigrants who worked at the Saxonville Mills in the 1840s, St. George's is the oldest Roman Catholic parish in Framingham and the surrounding Metrowest area.
