Description WATER WORKS

Heading west on Waverly Street (Rt. 135) from Framingham's downtown, one can see the brick Farm Pond Gate House constructed in the 1870s when water from Farm Pond and the Sudbury River water were diverted to supply the pipelines to Boston. When the Quabin Reservoir replaced Framingham waterways in the 1930s as Boston's primary water source, the function of the building became strictly decorative.
