Colored postcard of Buckminster Square and Soldier's Monument. The Hugh C. Leighton Manufacturers, Portland, ME
This minuteman statue was dedicated June 17, 1905. The figure portrayed is a blacksmith (the minuteman statue in Concord depicts a farmer). Sculptor Henry Hudson Kitson died during the work and his wife, Alice, finished it. In photo, the statue faces south; later it was turned to face concord. The town water tower on Normal Hill is in background of photo. |
