Colored postcard, Memorial Library and Soldier's Monument, Framingham, Mass. C. T. American Art
In lieu of a Civil War monument, Framingham built this library building as a memorial to its citizens who died in service from 1861-1865. Architects were W. Frank Hurd and William A. Rice. The stone was quarried along Salem End Road, and the building was dedicated on Feb. 22, 1873. The soldier statue, by Martin Milmore, was in the memorial hall but was moveds outside about 1880. |
