Color Postcard, "G 21020 State Normal School, Framingham, Mass.", with a group of people gathered out front Addressed with message to Mrs. Fred Greenleaf, Pleasant Street, Leominster, Mass from E. Colburn Published by the Rotograph Co. NY City (Germany) In 1839, the first public normal school in America for training teachers was established in Lexington. Later, it moved to West Newton. Framingham's proposal offering a site and building on Bare Hill brought it to Framingham Centre in 1853. The hill became Normal Hill. In 1932, normal schools became state teachers' colleges.
