Description |
Color Postcard, "Works of the Dennison Manufacturing Co., So. Framingham, Mass.", with trains passing by in the foreground addressed with message to Dr. JWP Gowdy of Bristol, ME from J.C. Hipron, Hopkinton, Mass published by The Metropolitan News Co.
Founded in 1844 in Maine, Dennison came to the former Para Rubber Shoe Co. buildings on Howard Street and Bishop Street in 1898. Dennison altered the complex as it prospered. This view, c. 1910, is of the Howard Street side. The smokestack reads "TAGS," a Dennison product so popular it led some to call Framingham "tag town." Later, the power plant was moved across Bishop Street, right. |
