B/W Photograph, "Reformatory Prison for Women, South Framingham, Mass." addressed with message to Mrs. F.J. Savage, 129 Branch Street, Lowell, Mass c.1900 - The Reformatory Prison for Women opened in 1877 in Sherborn because of the concern for housing women in the general prison system. It was included when part of Sherborn was transferred to Framingham in the 1920s. Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross, became its superintendent in 1883. The prison then had wing buildings to the left and right. Three to the right are shown.
