Description |
SIMPSON'S MILL
To the north of the former pond, up Concord Street, the buildings of the Saxonville Mills could be seen in 1880 with a large open area for drying carpets in front. These mill buildings would all burn to the ground four years later. The mills were rebuilt as a single brick complex with mansard towers and later known as the Roxbury Carpet Company. The smokestack of 1880 had been square. Its replacement, on the new building, was round. |
