Description
ST. JOHN'S CHURCH The mounted sepia print shows a stone church with a two-color slate roof, buttresses, and a tower. St. John's Episcopal Church on Maynard Road was only about ten years old when the 1880 view was taken. The building had been designed by Framingham Architect Alexander Rice Esty and consecratd in 1872. By 1980, it had served as an Episcopal and a Seventh Day Adventist Church, and was in use as the ecumenical center for Framingham State College. After renovations, the building was reopened on November 15, 2000, as the Helen Heineman Ecumenical and Cultural Center at Framingham State College.
