SUMMARY:Hike Through History – Callahan State Park
DESCRIPTION: Sunday, May 3rd 10:00 am – 12:00 pm\nCost: $15 ($5 off for FHC members)\nJoin the Framingham History Center and local historian Brett Peruzzi for a guided hike in Callahan State Park.\nAs the largest green space in Framingham, Callahan State Park is a year-round destination for hiking, bird-watching, horseback riding, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing. Yet before it became a state park more than 50 years ago, the land had been farmland for centuries. What traces of that history remain, and what stories do they tell?\nOn this two-mile hike, you will learn: \n\n\nWho the park is named after\n\nThe park’s notable natural features and current uses\n\nThe history of the land and its agricultural legacy\n\nHow to spot clues in the forest that reveal its past\n\nThe hike will cover rocky trails with several hills. Please wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for uneven terrain.\nIf you have any questions feel free to reach Claudia Ruiz Gustafson, FHC Programs Manager at claudia@framinghamhistory.org.\n\n
