SUMMARY:I Am Every Migrant Child: Reflections of a World War II Orphan
DESCRIPTION:I Am Every Migrant Child: Reflections of a World War II Orphan\nThursday, April 28 @ 7PM\nVillage Hall on the Common\n$5/FHC Member, $10/not-yet-a-member, free for students*\nFeaturing: Sylvia Ruth Gutmann, Holocaust Survivor\nThe current global refugee crisis coming out of Ukraine, haunts “Hidden Child” Holocaust survivor and Framingham resident Sylvia Gutmann.  “I know how they are feeling – lost.” Born in Belgium in 1939, to Jewish parents who had fled their home in Berlin six months earlier, Sylvia became an orphan at the age of three when her parents were sent to their deaths at Auschwitz.  After hiding in Europe until the age of seven, she immigrated to the United States in 1946 with her two sisters.  Not until recently did she find the missing piece of how she and her sisters were spared.  Join the Framingham History Center as we hear Sylvia’s story, her commitment to the work of memory, healing, reconciliation, and peace as well as her dedication to being a voice for today’s refugee children. \nAfter her talk, Sylvia will be signing copies of her memoir A Life Rebuilt: The Remarkable Transformation of a War Orphan which will be available for sale, $20 (cash or check only). This program will be in-person and recorded. If you are unable to attend, you can still purchase a ticket and receive the edited recording.\n*For student admission* Please email laura@framinghamhistory.org ( mailto:laura@framinghamhistory.org ) with your name, age, and school you attend to receive free admittance to this program.\n\n
